Preservation and Placemaking with A J Ramler

  • Turner House 401 North Rosemont Avenue Dallas, TX, 75208 United States (map)

Old buildings are one of the things that keep cities from becoming interchangeable. Their texture, history, and imperfections create a civic memory that new construction often struggles to replicate. Preservation can also be a powerful form of economic development within a community when paired with thoughtful redevelopment, tenant curation, and public activation. This talk will explore how historic buildings can become anchors for placemaking and create space for community-driven activations.

AJ Ramler is the founder of Proxy Properties. Their focus is redevelopment and adaptive reuse projects. They have renovated important buildings in Oak Cliff including the Oak Cliff Assembly, the Madison Hotel and the recently opened “East Dock.”

Doors open at 7 p.m. Program starts at 7:30 p.m.

Sponsored by Sherman & Sherman, and Ari’s Pantry.
