Rising Stars Opening Reception

Come meet 16 rising stars in the Dallas art scene at the 13th annual Rising Stars exhibition opening and fundraiser hosted by the Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts at the Turner House.

This year’s exhibition will include unique works from 16 DFW artists who are not represented by an art gallery, as nominated by prior rising stars. The Rising Stars exhibition offers a unique opportunity for these artists to sell their works to attendees and get exposure to gallery owners who often attend this renowned event.

Join us on Sept. 19 at the exhibition opening and you’ll have an opportunity to meet the artists and have the first opportunity to purchase an original work. There will also be a free public viewing of the exhibition the following day, Sept. 20, from 1 – 5 p.m.

The Rising Stars exhibition is the premier annual fundraiser for the Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts, whose mission is to promote art and culture, including the renovation of the Turner House — the historic home and art museum hosting this event. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to support the OCSFA’s mission and fund the purchase prize for this event — a high honor for the selected artist. Proceeds from art sales will go to the artists, with a small portion contributed to the OCSFA.

An Evening of Classical Elegance: Fortepiano Concert

Daniel Adam Maltz plays the fortepiano.

Daniel Adam Maltz plays the fortepiano.

Journey back to the golden age of classical music as Daniel Adam Maltz performs on the fortepiano, the predecessor to the modern piano and the instrument of choice for composers like Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. This 90-minute performance will showcase the instrument's distinctive, crystalline tone, bringing the era's rich musical traditions to life.

The Turner House provides the perfect setting for this performance, having been built expressly for hosting concerts such as this on period instruments like the fortepiano. The venue's acoustics and intimate atmosphere honor the authentic concert experience of the classical era.

Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or discovering the fortepiano for the first time, this concert promises an unforgettable afternoon of historical authenticity and musical artistry.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Sponsored by Dallas College. Dallas College students and faculty receive free admission with valid College ID, no advance ticket purchase necessary.
